What's the Sony KDL32W550 0U TV Like?

What's the Sony KDL32W550 0U TV Like? by Todd Fox

Everyone knows that Sony is a good brand name television, and the Sony KDL32W550 0U is one of the many models on the Bravia range. This is the top of the range and the "W" series consists of a 1920x1080p Full HD panel, which has now become a standard feature, but the "W" series was the first to use this technology.

This KDL32W550 0U model is an LCD TV of course and for this kind of top range television the price is very reasonable. It features 4 HDMI inputs, and Ethernet jack which allows the Applicast to work and connect to the internet. A USB which is able to handle video, music and photo files of all kinds, and whatever else you need it for!

100Hz Motionflow and the Bravia engine image technology are also featured and apparently this is one of the many features of this feature-rich unit that makes the KDL32W550 0U so good. The fact that retailers can't sell enough of these sets must mean they are a good buy.

The attractively framed KDL32W550 0U screen is a generous 32" and is more than adequate, it looks more compact because of the glossy black bevel surround. Take care of scratching, although the television does come packed with protective covers on the scratchable surfaces. These glossy surfaces look good, but much like mobile phones which are also packed with protective coverings they also get scratched with heavy use.

The KDL32W550 0U is definitely a compact unit so it is ideal if you don't want a television to dominate the room. Let's face it, most of us girls don't want the kind of TV that does this. We want something that looks good and serves its specific purpose. I have read reviews that say the Sony 32E5500 looks better but I really don't believe this is true.

Wega Gate menus feature on most Sony TV models, but not on this particular KDL32W550 0U model. It makes use of icons, much like the Playstation 3. For some people this is a much more user friendly interface and it is definitely innovative. But if you prefer the more traditional menu interface it may be confusing. The way I think a picture paints a thousand words and I find it easier to use.

Getting used to the KDL32W550 0U menu may be difficult to get used to for the traditional menu user. Take my father for example, he thinks my TV is so advanced it doesn't need a remote. I just don't tell him that I have hidden it so he can' meddle with my settings. You know what men are like with remote controls!

The video processor on the KDL32W550 0U works fine as far as I am concerned, I don't really know much about the technicalities of this. So read the tech specs if you want to know more. Mine works, the picture is fine and I get a fantastic quality picture with videos and DVD's on Thursday night Chick Flick night, so I am more than happy!

The Sony Bravia KDL32W550 0U is a great top of the range Sony model, it works perfectly with my decor and was exactly the right price for me. It blends well with my modern/art deco style furniture, and fits beautifully into the corner that has been awaiting its arrival.
